A two-day singles knockout decided by a final that went to the fifth board.
Forty players entered the Summer Shield, the largest field the event has seen. The draw was open, with no seeding.
The final was the longest on record for the competition, running to a fifth board after the queen was left uncovered twice in the fourth.
